Apple iPhone 12 - Full iPhone Feature and Specification

iPhone 12 is likely to arrive soon which is expected to bring a huge change in Apple's flagship phones this year. It is expected to be joined by three other phones-iPhone 12 Max, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max.

iPhone 12 is expected to drop from the existing design, add 5G connectivity, A14 Bionic processor as well as LiDAR cameras and 120 Hz displays for Pro models.

This time we cannot expect iPhone 12 to get arrived in September like it used to but we have plenty of pictures of what it will look like from rumours and leaks. iPhone 12 is expected to arrive in four models- 6.7 inches iPhone 12 Pro Max, 6.1 inches iPhone 12 Pro, 6.1 inches iPhone 12 Max and 5.4 iPhone 12 along with flat machined edges and possibly slimmer notch.

iPhone 12 latest news and leaks

iPhone 12 Pro leaks confirmed to feature a LiDAR sensor for better-augmented reality and photography performance. iPhone 12 possibly could launch display with 120Hz refresh rate in Pro models

but according to new leaks, Apple may not be able to include it due to missing hardware.

iPhone 12 is expected to bring the end of iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone XR and also price reduction for the iPhone 11.

iPhone 12 Release Date

iPhone generally launches in September but it may be delayed this year according to multiple reports. The chief financial minister during the Apple earning calls stated that the supply of iPhone 12 can be a few weeks later than the date when iPhone 11 was shipped.

From the report above, we can expect it to release within October however iPhone 12 Pro models is likely to arrive in November.

According to data from @LeaksApplePro from Twitter, Apple will hold its event on mid-October and iPhone 12 will include better cameras, A14 Bionic chip and more RAM.

iPhone 12 Price

According to leaks from @Komiya_kj on Twitter, iPhone 12 (5.4 inches) will start from $699 for 64GB while iPhone 12 Max (6.1 inches) will have the price of $799 for the same amount of storage.

The above-mentioned price is for 5G models of iPhone 12 while the price can be cheaper for 4G LTE-only versions. Apple is likely to launch 4G LTE iPhone 12 in early 2021.

Many sources suggest similar pricing but iPhone 12 Pro which will include three rear cameras and LiDAR sensor might start at $999 or $1,049. iPhone Pro Max which will feature 6.7-inch display can cost from $1,099 or $1,149.

iPhone 12 Design

All four iPhone 12 models are expected to bring back flat metal-edge design similar to iPhone 5. If this is true the design will bring this iPhone lineup closer to iPad Pro 2020.

The most interesting variant leaks by purchased dummy unit regarding 5.4 inch iPhone 12 is that it is even smaller than 4.7 inches iPhone 7 despite its larger display but not significantly larger than 4-inch iPhone SE.

The final design could be as Twitter leaks by Komiya which shows a square camera array that tucks in smaller LiDAR sensor and notch upfront. Jon Prosser has stated that iPhone 12 will definitely reduce the notch size but didn't state how much small the new notch will be.

Till today most of the designers have tried their best to model the mockups based on rumours and leaked CAD drawings. Concept Creator built a render and published in a video by LetsGoDigital for 5.4 inch iPhone12. From this design, we can clearly notice smaller notch and SIM tray relocated below the volume buttons.

iPhone 12 Models

We can clearly expect four models from the forecast made by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo last year. Kuo says " We've known that four different iPhone 12 models are on tap for 2020: one at 5.4 inches, two at 6.1 inches and the largest variant measuring 6.7 inches and all four 2020 iPhones will have 5G".

These models are expected to include OLED displays and this will be mark change for Apple because iPhone 11 and iPhone XR featured LCD displays.

iPhone 5.4 will feature OLED display panel with a rumoured resolution of 2340 X 1080. The display is also expected to feature Y-OCTA technology meaning display integrates touch screen directly.

Talking about hardware, iPhone 12 is expected to feature A14 processor, 64GB-256GB storage and 4GB RAM. These models are likely to rely on the dual rear cameras losing telephoto in the Pro variants.

6.1 inch iPhone 12 Max with feature A14 processor, 128BG-256GB storage along with 2 dual cameras. So what's the difference? Well, the biggest difference lies in screen and battery size. iPhone 12 Max will feature 6.1-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 2532 X 1170.

6.1 inch iPhone Pro with flexible OLED is expected to be the first phone to feature 10-bit colour support. It will feature resolution same as 6.1 inches iPhone 12 Max along with Y-OCTA technology. There is a big chance that iPhone 12 Pro will include 120Hz refresh rate but the rumours are unstable.

You can expect A14 Processor, 6GB Ram and storage ranging from 128GB to 512GB with 3 rear lenses along with 64MP main sensor and LiDAR time-of-flight sensor.

6.7 inch iPhone 12 Pro Max is expected to feature same storage, Ram, cameras like iPhone 12 Pro. The main difference lies in 6.7-inch OLED panel with 2778 X 1824 resolution.

iPhone 12 5G

iPhone 12 is expected to support 5G according to report from Nikkei but there is some disagreement regarding whether or not all models will support 5G.

6.1 and 5.4 inches iPhone 12 may not include mmWave technology. mmWave technology offers the fastest download speeds but affordable devices can feature only 6GHz 5G which offers slower data rates than mmWave technology.

According to Digitimes, all the four iPhone 12 will be capable to feature wide 5G support which means all four models would work on mmWave 5G too.

iPhone 12 Camera

iPhone 12 and 12 Max will include two rear cameras according to Digitimes and 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max will feature three rear cameras with new LiDAR sensor.

iPhone 12 is also expected to feature new 7-part lens for main cameras that would be an upgrade from part-6 which was used in the iPhone 11 series. The extra lens will offer reduced distortion and better photo quality.

iPhone 12 Pro is reported to add LiDAR time-of-flight sensor. There would be three cameras, flash and extra sensor in the single room. The extra sensor will be able to judge the distance between object and phones and benefits AR apps.

Talking about videos, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone Pro Max will be able to shoot 4K footages at 120 frames per seconds.

iPhone 12 Color

We have got enough rumours regarding colour front but it is for sure Apple will follow the same colour patterns of the last couple iPhone launches. A larger quantity of colours will be available for less expensive iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max but Pro models will have a more traditional and darker colour scheme.

Many rumours suggest that iPhone 12 will offer blue colour which would be a replacement for Green colour offered by iPhone 11 Pro.

iPhone 12 Display

One of the most jaw-dropping features about the display is that iPhone Pro models have been tipped to feature a 120 Hz refresh rate. The other two model iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max are likely to offer same 60Hz refresh similar to iPhone 11.

According to Young iPhone 12 despite having 120Hz refresh fails to add adaptive refresh rate tech similar to Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

iPhone 12 Battery

Apple is trying to replace its 18-watt solution with 20 watts but this won't be shipped with any of their new phones. The price for 18 watts first-party Apple charger and Lightning -to-USB-C cable is $48 altogether.

Apple should implement this decision as many of their customers have a charger with them and shipping another piece will contribute to damaging the environment.

Talking about the battery capacities, iPhone 12 is likely to offer lower capacities than iPhone 11. iPhone 12 Pro Max is said to include 3,687 –mAh, iPhone 12 Pro with 2,775 –mAh, iPhone 12 with 2,227 –mAh and iPhone 12 Max with 2,775 –mAh.

iPhone 12 Accessories and Specifications

iPhone normally ships set of charger and earbuds along with the phone. But we can expect different regarding iPhone 12. Apple could skip including charger this time. Also, new rumours suggest that Apple won't include earbuds either for the first time to upgrade its customers to wireless AirPods.

But we can expect one upgraded accessories that will come with phone, i.e braided USB-C-to Lightning cable which is more durable than a standard plastic-shrouded charging cable.
